On this superb tour you will experience the splendor of the majestic Alps and four European Countries that abound with medieval & renaissance architecture, cultural highlights and events, great food and wine and breath taking scenery.
Your tour, which starts in Germany, takes us down the Rhine with its medieval towns to Munich, famous for its Oktoberfest. Then we drive through the Bavarian Alps into Austria and the magical city of Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace. Then on to Italy where will visit Verona, Florence and Venice. We will also visit Pisa, Milan and Lake Maggiore before recrossing the Alps into scenic Switzerland. In Lucerne we take a boat ride on beautiful Lake Lucerne and enjoy the magnificent alpine views in Engelberg. Then back to Germany to enjoy the Black Forest and the old University City of Heidelberg.

 Tour Itinerary:


Day 1 / Tue
Overnight flight from the USA to Frankfurt, Germany

Day 2 / Wed
On arrival at Frankfurt Airport you will be met by your Tour Leader Couple and transferred to your hotel in the Frankfurt area. The remainder of the day is at leisure and this evening you are invited to a Welcome dinner. (D)

Day 3 / Thu
Drive Day - 100 miles
After breakfast at your hotel there will be a briefing about your tour and the RV pick up procedures. In the afternoon we transfer to the RV Depot to pick up your vehicles. Then we drive from Frankfurt to Rothenburg, where we will spend the night at the "Tauberromantiek" campgrounds Dinner tonight will be at a nearby restaurant (B,D)

Day 4 / Fri
Drive Day - 115 miles
This morning we take a walking tour of Rothenburg, one of Germany's best preserved medieval towns. Then on to Landsberg to spend tonight and the next three nights at the "Romantik am Lech" campsite.

Day 5 / Sat
Today is completely free in Landsberg. Rest, read, shop or explore the area at your own pace.

Day 6 / Sun
This morning we leave for a day's excursion to the Bavarian City of Munich. On our walking tour we will see the Marienplatz with its Glockenspiel, the Opera House and the Hofbrau House, Munich's famous beer hall. Then we visit the Olympic Tower, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon, we take a tour of the Nymphenburg Castle. Return to Landsberg to spend the night. (L)

Day 7 / Mon
We explore the Bavarian Alps on today's excursion. First a visit to the famous Schloss Neuschwanstein, one on Mad King Ludwig's many castles, and then continue to Oberammergau, scene of the world renown Passion Play, which is only performed every ten years. After lunch, there will be ample time to explore this lovely alpine village and check out the villager's beautiful wood cravings. En route back to Landsberg we will make a stop at the Wieskirche (White Church). (L)

Day 8 / Tue
Drive Day - 125 miles
This morning's drive takes to Koessen, where we will stay at the "Wilder Kaiser" campgrounds for three nights. On the way you may wish to make a visit to the Herrenchiemsee Castle, another of Ludwig's royal homes, which is situated on the shores of Lake Chiemsee.

Day 9 / Wed
A free day in Koessen. A chance to get those post cards written! You may wish to visit Hitler's famous hide out the Eagle's Nest at Kehlstein near Berchtesgaden.

Day 10 / Thu
Today's excursion includes a visit to the Salt Mines of Berchtesgaden, where we will board a mine train and tour the subterranean mines. After lunch, we leave for Austria and visit the magical city of Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace. Then back to Germany and Koessen for the night. (L)

Day 11 / Fri
Drive Day - 220 miles
We leave Germany early this morning and drive over the Alps to Verona in Italy, where we will spend the next three nights at the "Romeo e Julia" campgrounds in Verona.

Day 12 / Sat
Another free day to explore the beautiful medieval town of Verona. There is plenty to do and see and the food and shopping are great.

Day 13 / Sun
A day not to be missed. An excursion to Venice with its famous canals and today's activities include a gondola ride and a visit to San Marco's Square and lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Verona this evening. (L)

Day 14 / Mon
Drive Day - 160 miles
Your drive today takes us from Verona to Florence, where we will stay at the Norcenni Girasole campsite in Figline Valdarno near Florence. This evening enjoy a traditional renaissance dinner in Florence. (D)

Day 15 / Tue
Today is spent in Florence with a guided walking tour of the city and a visit to the Ponte Vecchio with its many tempting shops. Plenty of time to explore this truly beautiful town, with its many museums and art galleries. You will not want to miss Michaelangelo's famous statute of David.

Day 16 / Wed
A free day in Florence. You may want to explore the nearby Chianti wine region or catch the sights you missed yesterday.

Day 17 / Thu
Today's excursion takes us through the Tuscany countryside to Sienna, a beautiful Renaissance town, then on to the fortified hilltop town of San Gimignano Tonight's dinner is at Toscanini Castle. Return to Figline Valdarno for the night. (D)

Day 18 / Fri
Drive Day - 60 miles
A short drive today from Florence to Pisa. There will be plenty of time in the afternoon to visit the Leaning Tower, which is within walking distance of our camping site at Torre Pendenta, where we will spend two nights.

Day 19 / Sat
Today's excursion takes us first to the charming town of Lucca, where we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will visit the gardens of Gazoni. On our return to Pisa we will make a short stop at Torre del Lago Puccini. (L)

Day 20 / Sun
Drive Day - 240 miles
We leave Pisa this morning and drive north to Fondotoce di Verbania on scenic Lake Maggiore, where we will stay for four nights at the camping grounds of "Continental Lido".

Day 21 / Mon
We spend today on a boat trip on the beautiful Lago Maggiore with visits to three islands, Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola Pescatori. The islands have fascinating histories and we will have a chance to visit churches, a castle and a museum. Lunch will be at one of the islands many quaint restaurants. (L)

Day 22 / Tue
This morning we leave for day's excursion to Italy's second city, Milan. Your schedule includes a coffee break at the famous Victor Emmanuelle Gallery, and visits to the famous opera house, La Scala, Milan's old and very beautiful cathedral, the DOM and The Last Supper of Leonardi da Vinci. Return to "Continental Lido" for the night.

Day 23 / Wed
The whole day to enjoy Lago Maggiore region on your own. You may wish to explore the many interesting small towns on the shores of the lake or shop for local bargains. You will certainly want to eat at one of the many excellent Italian restaurants in the area.

Day 24 / Thu
Drive Day - 140 miles
Your drive today takes us through the Alps to Engelberg in Switzerland, where we will stay at the Eienwald camping site for three nights.

Day 25 / Fri
Your excursion today is to Lucerne where we will take a morning walking tour and see the famous Chapel Bridge Then its "All Aboard" for a boat trip on Lake Lucerne, which will include lunch on board. A visit to an Alpine Horn factory is also on our schedule. (L)

Day 26 / Sat
A rest day in Engelberg. Explore the magnificent Alps on your own pace today or just take it easy!

Day 27 / Sun
Drive Day - 160 miles
We leave Switzerland behind and drive north to Steinach in Germany, where we spend the next two nights at the "Kinzigtal" campgrounds.

Day 28 / Mon
Steinach is situated in Germany's Black Forest and today you are on your own to explore this very beautiful and scenic area. Perhaps you may want to buy a cuckoo clock or see the local woodcarvers at work.

Day 29 / Tue
Drive Day - 125 miles
Your drive today is to the historic German City of Heidelberg, on the banks of the Rhine River. Our campsite is called "Haide" where we stay for three nights.

Day 30 / Wed
Your guided tour of the University City of Heidelberg includes the romantic old town and the castle. Lunch at one of the city's many local eateries. (L)

Day 31 / Thu
A free day in the Heidelberg area to enjoy all that the Rhineland has to offer.

Day 32 / Fri
Drive Day - 130 miles
We leave Heidelberg this morning and drive to Frankfurt to return your RV's and then transfer to our hotel. Tonight a traditional Farewell Dinner. At a local restaurant (D)

Day 33 / Sat
Transfer from our hotel to the airport in Frankfurt for the flight back home. (B).
